I heard Twin Peaks song Stand in The Sand today on the radio and immediately fell in love.  Twin Peaks sound like Smith Westerns but with a little bit more of an edge. Can’t wait  to hear more from the Chicago band when the release Sunken on July 9th.

Katy B’s new single proves that her debut album wasn’t a fluke. What Love Is Made Of takes the same dubstep/pop crossover sound that made her debut Katy On A Mission so successful. It’s sure to get your weekend started.

Electro pop princesses Marina and The Diamonds and Charli XCX have teamed up, and the results are a sweet but sour pop song. Just Desserts sure sounds sweet but it does have a little bit of a bite. Check it out below.

It’s been a few years since The National’s breakthrough effort High Violet. It was a comercial and a critical success and bringing the band to the masses. The National plan to keep the momentum going with their new single Sea Of Love.  Sea Of Love builds off of the sound they had in High Violet and it sounds amazing. The bands new album Trouble Will Find Me will be released later this month.

This little bit of video caused Blur fans across the world to go on to a frenzy. Damon Albarn said that they would be recording new material. They did a two songs for the London Olympics but other than that there has been no new material since 2003. It would also be the first album with full participation from guitarist Graham Coxon. Coxon left halfway through the Think Tank sessions. I wouldn’t hold my breath, but maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Finally, we have an official version of Ya Hey. They have been playing this song at their latest gigs and it has gone over really well. It’s a little bit on the slower side, but still is danceable. It also has Ezra Koenig’s signature complicated  lyrics that you need a degree to understand.

OH Coahella. The yearly desert musical oasis, that I love so much.  And this year the only damage done during the 3 day fest was one sunburn and about 4 bruises. Two weeks later and I still have yet to fully recover, but every bruise, sleepless night and aching bone was worth it to one of the most legendary Brit Pop Bands, Blur.

Well when I saw the set times for this day, I think i screamed in to my pillow for about 5 minutes. So many conflicts and the worst of all, Blur was not the last band on the main stage. I don’t know what kind of crack the schedule maker was doing, but it had to be the most conflict filled day at Coachella that I have ever seen. And making Stone Roses the headliner was a HUGE mistake,especially since after the lineup was announced in January fans took to twitter to ask who the fuck are The Stone Roses? Now I love The Stone Roses but, Blur is obviously the more popular band and should have been given that spot. ANYWAY, i decided to stay all day at the main stage. The first 3 bands were forgettable. But things started to turn around near 4pm. One of my favorite bands of all time, Stars. It’s hard to explain how much Stars mean to me. They were one of the first “indie” bands that I listened to and became attached too. I fell in love with the brilliant song writing and the underrated musical genius that is Torquil Campbell. It took several years, but I finally saw them and it was very emotional. I was overwhelmed with just pure joy and happiness. They were everything that I expected and more. I was nearly driven to tears when they played one of my favorite songs of all time, Your Ex-Lover Is Dead.

Then another one of my favorite bands, Metric came on next. Emily Haines is just cool. No other word for it. She just oozes it. And she has major talent on top of it.

Passion Pit was next. They were okay but all their songs sound the same. It had a lot of energy, but it just wasn’t my thing. Modest Mouse was a disappointment. The lead singer was higher than a kite and was more interested in doing monologues than singing. After 2 less than stellar sets, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs reinvigorated the crowd. Karen O rocks just as hard as any front man. She is the definition of rock n roll. Danny Devito was grooving along to YYY’s in front of us and it was just one of those amazing Coachella  moments. THEN the moment I had been waiting for all day, Blur. It was well worth the wait. They came out and got the party started with Girls and Boys. It set the whole tone for the evening. It was just high energy for the whole set. It got really emotional when they played Tender. The whole polo field was singing along. A personal highlight was when Emily Haines of Metric was in front of us and started dancing to There IS No Other Way with us and all high fived us.

This new track is the first little taste of The Great Gatsby soundtrack, and it is shaping up to be a great album. Lana’s song is the first song to come off the soundtrack that is supposed to feature Jack White and Florence + The Machine. It’s  a really nice song and fits well with the gatsby vibe.
